Hampton Downs is excited to announce the newest addition to our Auto Addict experiences, Roll Racing!
What is Roll Racing?
The concept is simple, you’re paired up with another vehicle in the staging lanes. You both start off on a rolling start, and when the flag drops, it’s a race to the finish line. There are a few rules involved which will be listed.
The vehicle on the right side sets the pace, we suggest around 40kmph max as you’re rolling up to the start. If you’re on the left side, it’s your job to keep up but do not pass until the starter drops the flag.
During practice sessions, everyone returns around to race again, however during competition, only the winner will return until we crown the champion!
Roll Racing is all about having a well setup car that can get the power to the ground correctly. You don’t need the most HP or biggest tyres to win but that helps!
Where about on the track will it be performed?
On the National Circuit Between turn 9 and turn 10
What you need to know
All Drivers need to attend Drivers briefing.
All cars are to line up in Pit lane, the cars will be checked that they have a entry sticker on their windscreen.
All drivers will be checked for the correct safety gear including a wrist band on to confirm you have signed in and attended Drivers Briefing.
All cars will be checked regardless of whether they have a WOF or not - See 'Vehicle Safety Requirements' below

There will be no classes, it will be open
AUTO ADDICT
As this is our newest Auto Addict experience, we have a range of activities available that could see you getting out on the track again or ripping up the skidpan!

Vehicle Safety Requirements
- Radial tyres ONLY - No cross ply tyres or slicks
- No Front Runners (minimum 185mm tread width)
- No oil, fuel or water leaks
- Convertibles MUST run a roll bar
- No wheelie bars
- No Methanol
*NO scatter shields/blankets required for Rotaries
What if I do not have a WOF or Registration?
- Your vehicle must pass the safety check or track access will not be permitted
Roll Caged Vehicles
- You must have and present a log book for your vehicle to check in staff
Licence requirements
- Valid FULL drivers licence
- Motorsport New Zealand licence
Personal Safety Requirements
The personal protective equipment that you wear will be dependant on your vehicle type and seatbelt configuration
Factory Standard Cars:
- Lap & Diagonal belt
- Approved helmet
- Fire retardant race suit
- Closed footwear
- (NO MX helmets)
Modified Vehicles:
- Min 4-point harness
- FHR
- Approved helmet
- Fire retardant race suit
- Fire retardant racing boots
- Fire retardant race gloves
