Why us
The now-famous Hampton Downs Go-Karts are a must do adrenaline pumping experience. Our modern 270cc Karts and the undulating 530m outdoor track makes for an exhilarating experience. *We reserve the right to adjust the speeds of our karts for health and safety reasons, at any time. Standard opening hours are Wednesday, Thursdays, Fridays, Sundays: 10am - 4:45pm and Saturdays: 10am - 6:15pm.

Things you need to know
Safety
Single kart drivers must be at least 10 years old and at least 140cm tall
Tandem kart drivers must be at least 16 years old and at least 140cm tall
Tandem kart passengers must be at least 6 years old and at least 120cm tall
Maximum weight: 120kg (single)
Maximum height: 2m
Drivers aged 12 years and under will be speed restricted
Please arrive 30 minutes prior to your booking
We have zero tolerance to alcohol on all self drive activities
A 10 minute Health & Safety break is required between each race
What to wear
No loose items or clothing
Closed footwear (no crocs)
You may bring your own full face NZ safety accredited helmet, if you prefer
Wear suitable clothing for karts. Crop tops, asymmetrical tops, short shorts, speedos, tutus, and super hero capes are not suitable for karting.
Check with our team upon arrival if you're unsure about your attire.

FAQS
Are there height/age/weight restrictions?
Yes, there is. For our single karts, our minimum age is 10 years old and 140cm tall.
For our tandem karts, the driver must be 16 years old and 140cm, the passenger is required to be a minimum of 6 years old and 120cm tall.
Please note that our maximum height is 200cm (6 foot, 6 inches) tall and maximum weight is 120kg. We cannot allow any person exceeding this to ride in our karts strictly due to customer health and safety.
How long is a race/How fast do our karts go?
Races are 10 minutes long; you will get approximately 15 - 19 laps dependent on your speed. *We reserve the right to adjust the speeds of our karts for health and safety reasons at any time.
Can I buy multiple races?
Yes, you can. However, you MUST have a 10-minute health and safety break between each race. Please use the "2 or 3" race options when booking online to ensure your races are correctly spaced.
Can I bring food/drinks?
Yes, you can however there is a strict NO alcohol policy on the premises and customers may be breath tested if you are suspected of being under the influence before your race.
We have picnic tables for your use and bbq hire if you would like to host a lunch. (Please enquire with gokarts@hamptondowns.com)
What do I need to wear?
Covered in shoes (no Crocs). Please refrain from wearing any loose clothing as well as this may be hazardous. Everything else you require, we provide.
What time do I need to arrive?
30 minutes prior to your first race. This allows us time to register and brief you. If you do not arrive 30 minutes prior, you may miss out on your race.
I have a group of 15 or more people, what is the best way to book?

What happens if it rains?
We do not operate in wet weather and will pause go kart track activity until we see fit to resume.
